Remembering My Inner Warrior — Reclaim Your Power After Toxic Mentoring
REMEMBERING MY INNER WARRIOR
As we remember who we are on our spiritual path, we also remember how powerful we truly are. Even through our most painful, nervous-system-dysregulating memories, we can reconnect with the joy, laughter, strength and love that were always inside us.
When I re-read a letter I wrote at 18, I meet that strong, clear-minded woman all over again. For years I lost her under people-pleasing, chasing approval, and trying to find love outside myself. In the corporate world I learned to shut down my voice, to put others’ needs first, and to trade my boundaries for survival. Over time, that quiet voice inside—my moral compass—grew dim.
When mentors stop serving you
That shadow showed up in spiritual spaces too. I trusted mentors who didn’t truly see me. They pushed me into ways of working that felt wrong for my body and my gifts, and I began to doubt my own intuition. Instead of strengthening me, those experiences loosened the thread of my confidence.
If you’ve been there—swept into someone else’s vision of what your gifts should look like—you’re not alone. Some teachers find the wounds and anchor themselves in them; they track and attach to places where we’re not fully healed so they can guide us their way. That doesn’t mean you’re weak. It means the wound was real, and it needed clearing.
Your body is wiser than the script
I learned the hard way that not being able to “zen out” in a training can be protection, not failure. My body wouldn’t let me go unconscious in unsafe spaces. While I didn’t always get the flashy downloads others did, my body was signaling: this isn’t safe. That visceral “no” became one of my greatest protections.
If your nervous system resists something—if your breath tightens, your gut clenches, or you feel a hum of unease—listen. Conscious people are much harder to influence energetically. When we heal and wake up, those slimy attachments can’t stick the same way.
Clearing is not the same as blocking
Blocking someone online can lessen a surface disturbance, but it doesn’t always clear the deeper wound. I’ve had energies show up again and again until I traced them to a post, a memory, or an unresolved layer inside my field. True clearing is layered work: you remove the energetic hooks, heal the wound that allowed the hook, and then rebuild the boundaries so it can’t open again.
If you still find yourself pulled to know what someone’s doing after you’ve blocked them, that’s a clue—there’s still a connection in need of attention. That’s not shame-fodder. It’s an invitation to heal a part of you that’s been left tender.
Remembering your power
When you’re ready to remember your power, you don’t need to leap into a new identity. You just need to come home to what’s already true inside you: your intuition, your body’s wisdom, your strength. That potent, embodied confidence doesn’t come from forcing someone else’s method on you—it comes from clearing the layers that dimmed your light and practicing trust in your own inner authority.
In the last few months my confidence has risen in ways that surprise me. I unlocked light language practices that felt like a reclamation tool—gentle, sovereign, fierce. The more I practiced, the more the old sticky stuff dissolved and the clearer my center became.
If you’ve been hurt by mentors, you’re not broken
I know firsthand how hard it is to trust again after being misled by someone who called themselves a teacher. I won’t diminish those experiences—some of them were gross and painful. But I also found teachers who helped me embody unconditional love and the grounded version of my gifts, and that changed everything.
There are many of us who feel stuck in limbo—wanting more, sensing deeper truth, but unsure where to turn. If that’s you, you don’t need to keep doubting your worth. You need a safe container to clear what’s in the field, to heal the wound, and to remember how to stand in your own power.
